Reaching Deep
As the rolling winds go by I watch the world And lately I have felt Like I am not there Or slowly floating away Out of sight We are to be detached From these world-things So they say But I have felt in it, the utmost pain I see no meaning Or perhaps I see it But I am not joined to it What is Christ’s way? In detachment, are we to be sterile? Perhaps it is like the turning of a ship In a sea of endearment Away from a perturbed current I am not out of the water But in another flow Resting Live wholly in the world Feeling all, seeing all But let your love Not depend on something small Let your joy, be not dependent On one small thing Love the Lord and the world will follow Love as the Lord, and your joy will not be Stagnant. On the surface of the sea. This is rest. But it is reaching deep.
